This collection includes books, papers, artifacts, blueprints, and maps from the estates of Edwin Albert Link and his wife and colleague Marion Clayton Link. Edwin A. Link was a pioneer and inventor in both aviation and underwater exploration, and the collection reflects both interests. Among his inventions was the first flight simulator, the blue box or Link trainer, that allowed pilots to learn to fly while safely on the ground. Later inventions included submersibles and underwater habitats that allowed divers to safely explore the depths of the ocean. Marion Link worked with her husband and chronicled their lives and discoveries in books and articles. This bibliography and digital collection complement the Link Collections at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton and the Roberson Center for the Arts and Sciences in Binghamton, New York.
